Get ready for fall/winter recreation program registration in Toronto
The City of Toronto is encouraging residents to get ready for September community recreation registration days. Registration occurs over four days in September and includes fall recreation, skating and swim programs as well as ski and some winter recreation programs. This September, over 27,000 programs are available in 248 community centres, pools and arenas.
Recreation activities available at City of Toronto attractions across the city during Labour Day long weekend
The City of Toronto will offer a wide variety of activities for residents over the Labour Day long weekend, with many family attractions open.
On Labour Day – Monday, September 5, City recreation centres will be closed and their recreation programs will not operate.

So many Riverdale residents donate to food banks at holiday time. This is a special summer food drive to help those families that rely on food banks year round.
With the recent tragic cycling deaths in Toronto, it is widely recognized that more safe cycling connections are needed. Following the public consultation on contraflow bike lanes at this year’s Pocket Community Association Annual General Meeting, a contraflow bike lane will be installed on Chatham Avenue!
A contraflow bike lanes gets installed on a one-way street and allows cyclists to legally travel in both directions. They are cost effective, safe, and ensure that cyclists are not forced onto busy arterial roads that lack proper cycling infrastructure.

The Gardiner East Environmental Assessment (EA) project team has prepared a Draft EA Report for the reconfiguration of the Gardiner Expressway and Lake Shore Boulevard East, from just west of Jarvis Street to approximately Leslie Street. The Draft EA Report summarizes the Gardiner East EA study process since it was initiated in 2009 to the present, and will be submitted to the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC) for approval in the near future.
