Thanks to everyone who joined us at the official unveiling of the Leslieville Mural! And thank you to all of our community partners, local businesses, and residents who were involved in selecting Elicser's beautiful updated take on Alexander Muir sitting under a maple tree.  I know this new landmark will be enjoyed by Leslievillians for years to come.

43 Station, our local paramedic station at 126 Pape Ave officially re-opened after a major refurbishment.  We were joined at the re-opening by Robert Cummings, a man whose life was saved by paramedics who work out of 43 Station.  Our city's first responders are true civic heroes, and I was so proud to be at the official re-opening.  You can read more about this

Helping Toronto and its residents prepare for and deal with major emergencies and disasters is the primary purpose of the Office of Emergency Management (OEM), the City of Toronto's coordinating agency for emergency and disaster activities. The OEM has now translated their preparedness guides  into multiple languages which you can download on the City's website here.

Nuit Blanche Toronto 2016

From 6:58 p.m. on Saturday, October 1 until sunrise on Sunday, October 2, the streets of Toronto will be transformed by nearly 90 contemporary art projects created and presented by more than 300 local, national and international artists. The full program is available at http://www.nuitblancheto.com.

This year, the City-produced exhibitions will be located at Nathan Phillips Square/City Hall; along John Street between Dundas and Front Street; along Bay Street from Dundas to Front Street; and along the waterfront, between Bay Street and Harbourfront Centre.

Get ready for fall/winter recreation program registration in Toronto

The City of Toronto is encouraging residents to get ready for September community recreation registration days. Registration occurs over four days in September and includes fall recreation, skating and swim programs as well as ski and some winter recreation programs. This September, over 27,000 programs are available in 248 community centres, pools and arenas.

Recreation activities available at City of Toronto attractions across the city during Labour Day long weekend

The City of Toronto will offer a wide variety of activities for residents over the Labour Day long weekend, with many family attractions open.

On Labour Day – Monday, September 5, City recreation centres will be closed and their recreation programs will not operate.

Around the World in East Chinatown, a neighbourhood beautification project in Toronto's East Chinatown district (Broadview Avenue and Gerrard Street East) officially launches today, Wednesday, August 31, thanks to StreetARToronto, a City of Toronto initiative, in partnership with Toronto Police Service, the Toronto Parking Authority, and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce (East Toronto)
