As rent prices surge with wanton abandon across the city of Toronto, so too do rates of landlords who try to get sneaky with illegal eviction techniques.

A November report from The Advocacy Centre for Tenants Ontario showed that the city has seen a staggering rise in "renovictions" over the past four years, not-so-coincidentally alongside skyrocketing market rental rates.

The City of Toronto invites tenants, landlords and residents to provide feedback on a draft rating system for apartment buildings registered with the RentSafeTO: Apartment Building Standards program.

Date: Monday, February 24 Time: Open for drop-in between 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Location: City Hall, Committee Room 2, 100 Queen St. W.

This consultation will focus on the design of the draft colour-coded rating system. The City will then use the feedback to improve the building evaluation system and outline the implementation details of the rating system.

It is, according to Toronto-Danforth Coun. Paula Fletcher, the biggest and most comprehensive planning study of its kind: a review of more than six kilometres of one of Toronto's best-known roadways, Danforth Avenue, between Victoria Park and Broadview Avenues. "There's nobody in Ontario who doesn't know where the Danforth is," said Fletcher.

Each year in February, the City of Toronto is proud to support events and exhibits scheduled for Black History Month, inviting members of the public to explore and celebrate the heritage, traditions and culture of African-Canadians.

Black History Month began in the United States as “Negro History Week” in February 1926, through the work of African American scholar Dr. Carter G. Woodson. His aim was to raise awareness and understanding in the school curriculum of the African experience around the world. The United States began to formally celebrate Black History Month in the 1960s. Through community activities, organizers sought to present a more balanced and accurate picture of Black history.

With the number of people and dogs in Toronto growing, the use of dogs off-leash areas (OLAs) continues to increase. The Parks & Recreation Facilities Master Plan (2017) recommended the City develop criteria for improving existing dogs off-leash areas.

This survey is part of the City-Wide Study of Existing Dogs Off-Leash Areas. The goals of the study overall are to:
