City of Toronto working with community and social services to help residents during the COVID-19 pandemic

This afternoon, Mayor John Tory and City of Toronto officials announced actions the municipal government is taking to help essential service workers with child care options; vulnerable residents such as seniors; people affected by untreated trauma, mental health and addictions; people in need of housing supports and emergency food access; and people with disabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today, Mayor John Tory announced a 60-day grace period for City of Toronto property tax, water and solid waste utility bill payments for all residents and businesses.

The immediate extension is part of the City's ongoing efforts, led by the Mayor, to protect Toronto's economic success in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mayor Tory is focused on making sure we do everything possible as a municipal government to make everyday life easier for Toronto residents now during this incredibly difficult time.

Dear Friends,

I am reaching out again to provide a new update on the COVID-19 situation. I have heard from many of you with your questions and concerns. I know how difficult this is and I am following developments very closely. We're almost at the end of the first week in an unprecedented situation.

Today I had a call with our MPP Peter Tabuns, MP Julie Dabrusin and Trustee Jennifer Story where we discussed how we're handling things in Toronto-Danforth. I am also checking in on our more vulnerable residents.

Toronto Police Service is taking parking complaints online. Now, members of the public can go online, report their parking complaint and get the assistance they need without having to place a telephone call to Toronto Police. Moving to an online parking complaint process is a better business delivery model and is in line with the ongoing implementation of the Service’s modernization plan.
