That also applies to the City's community centres, arenas, child-care centres and museums as well as the City Archives. The archives will also be closed Saturday, December 28. Today Mayor John Tory and Councillor Jennifer McKelvie (Ward 25 Scarborough-Rouge Park), Vice-Chair of the Infrastructure and Environment Committee and the Mayor's Resilience and Environmental Champion, officially marked the beginning of tunnel boring for the Coxwell Bypass Tunnel. This project is the first stage of the Don River and Central Waterfront Wet Weather Flow System – one of five connected projects to improve water quality in the Lower Don River, Taylor-Massey Creek and along Toronto's Inner Harbour.

Housing affordability is one of the most pressing issues facing us today so I am pleased to support the proposed Queen Coxwell Revitalization on the current site of the Don Summerville Apartments on Queen Street East.

For a year following the city election, I pushed to ensure that Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) added new affordable housing to their proposed revitalization. The new plan does just that. City staff, TCHC and Context Development have now agreed to a redevelopment plan for the property that would add 100 affordable rental apartments and as well as 180 market rental apartments.

The nomination deadline for the 2020 Agnes Macphail Award is midnight on Friday, January 10, 2020.

The nominee should be an outstanding volunteer, advocate and contributor to community life. The contribution should be in an area of, but not limited to, Agnes Macphail’s traditions and interests. Nominators should satisfy themselves that the candidate has volunteered in several fields, not just one, and that the various commitments extend over considerable periods of time.

Winter in Toronto is cold and snowy. That’s why the City of Toronto is ready with a snow clearing plan. We all have a role in keeping streets and sidewalks safe. Here is what you need to know this winter.

What we do:

1. Watch weather - We watch the weather forecast.

2. Patrol the streets - We patrol the roads and monitor weather conditions.

3. Anti-ice - Salt brine is sprayed on expressways, hills and bridges.

This campaign runs from Tuesday December 3 until Tuesday December 31 at midnight

East End Arts is the east end’s local arts service organization, a non-profit community arts organization that serves East Toronto. We provide inclusive arts programming and events to our local communities, including neighbourhoods like Old East York, Danforth Village, The Beaches and East China Town! We also provide professional development opportunities to emerging and established artists and arts organizations. We love the arts, and we work hard to strengthen the arts in our community, which is why we need your help this winter season to help us launch into 2020 for our best year yet!
