This month, the City of Toronto is asking the public for input on how to spend and measure the impact of the new arts and culture funding that has recently become available from Third Party Sign Tax retroactive revenues.

Four public consultations will take place:

  • Saturday, April 6: 1 to 4 p.m., St. Lawrence Hall, 157 King St. E.
  • Monday, April 8: 6 to 9 p.m., Lakeshore Assembly Hall, 1 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Dr.

Do you know someone who is making a difference in Toronto? Celebrate their accomplishments – nominate them for an award!

Nominees must be residents of the City of Toronto. Deadline for submitting nominations is Monday, May 6, 2013.

Aboriginal Affairs Award

The Aboriginal Affairs Award was established in 2003 to honour the volunteer contributions made by person(s) or organizations and whose efforts have made or are making a significant or ongoing contribution to the well-being and advancement of the Aboriginal community in Toronto. These contributions can be made for services or advocacy work on issues such as health, shelter work, street work, governance and self-determination, human rights or cultural activities.

Join Waterfront Toronto on April 10 for a Port Lands update meeting.

The meeting will provide an update on the various projects happening in the Port Lands, including the next stage of work for the Port Lands Acceleration Initiative, an overview and update on the Leslie Barns and associated works with the TTC, Tommy Thompson Park improvements and an update on soil recycling. A question and answer session will follow the presentations.

The warm weather is fast-approaching, revealing a winter’s worth of debris and litter. This is our opportunity to get involved and help keep Toronto clean.

Students and businesses are invited to participate in the Corporate and School Clean-up Day on Friday, April 19.  Make the area near your school or business shine.

The following day, it's time for a Toronto tradition.  Mayor Rob Ford's annual Community Clean-up Day is a great way to get together with friends, neighbours and co-workers to reduce everyday litter.  What better way to turn your ideas into action than to get involved.

Please join representatives of City of Toronto Transportation Services and the TTC at a meeting to discuss traffic impacts and phasing of the Leslie Street Connection Track and how to reduce construction impacts in your community. We are seeking community input to develop a comprehensive traffic and disruption management plan that meets the needs of local residents, businesses, and all pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists who live and travel through the area. Come review the draft plans and give your suggestions to improve them.

Reuse, Recycle and Safely Dispose

Do your part in creating a cleaner, greener and more liveable Toronto. Bring us your unused and unwanted household items and you will help to:
  • Extend the life of a product by offering it to someone for reuse.
  • Reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and ensure that it is properly recycled.
