The W. Garfield Weston Foundation will commit up to $5 million in aggregate over the next three years to fund innovative new park initiatives across the City of Toronto. Working in partnership with Toronto Park People, Toronto’s nonprofit catalyst for better parks, the Weston Family Parks Challenge will support projects that spark new ways to operate parks and engage the public with community and nature.
Social Planning Toronto is an incorporated and registered non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to:
- independent social planning and community development;
- social research and policy analysis;
- community education and advocacy; and
- the development and coordination of human services.
The City of Toronto is launching a new discussion forum called the Chief Planner Roundtable that is focused on city building themes. The first of three roundtables will get underway Tuesday, February 26 at Toronto City Hall and is titled Our Urban Fabric: Designing and Creating Public Places.
Each roundtable brings together various experts, City staff from a variety of divisions, and stakeholders in discussions about the challenges and opportunities faced on each of the themes. The roundtables will be chaired by Chief Planner, Jennifer Keesmaat and structured into three segments: setting the stage, reviewing key questions, and positioning change.
My motion to Council ("Saving Grace") to extend the grace period on parking switchover days will give you more leeway to move your car. I was happy to have the support of Council to pass this motion, and look forward to seeing it implemented by City Staff and Parking Enforcement.

Upgrading insulation and replacing an old inefficient furnace are examples of cost-effective improvements that can cut energy bills and improve the value of a property.
A comprehensive energy retrofit program that helps property owners undertake retrofits can significantly reduce energy use and advance the City's achievement of its energy conservation and greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals.
The Ralph Thornton Centre (RTC) is an inclusive community centre affiliated with the City of Toronto that is dedicated to community development & capacity building in South Riverdale. RTC works collaboratively to create a healthy, inclusive and vibrant community, offers a variety of programs that engage & assist residents, and provides space and support for a wide range of community groups & activities.
