The Construction Liaison Group (CLG) provides a forum for local residents, businesses and stakeholders to ask questions, raise concerns and share local knowledge with TTC construction staff, City Transportation Services and the construction contractor. Overall, the goal of the CLG is to help reduce construction impacts.

The CLG will focus on helping to improve the construction implementation and will give input on topics such as: pedestrian, cycling and vehicle access and safety, signage, traffic management, dust monitoring, parking and communications.

Waterfront Toronto and the City of Toronto have resumed the preparation of the Gardiner Expressway / Lake Shore Boulevard Reconfiguration Environmental Assessment (EA) and Integrated Urban Design Study. The EA will determine the future of the Gardiner Expressway East and Lake Shore Boulevard East, from approximately Jarvis Street to approximately Leslie Street. Four alternatives will be considered within the study area, including: maintaining, improving, replacing, or removing the elevated expressway. Improvements to other roadways could also be required.

Ward 30 is a unique and vibrant community in Toronto. How will it look in 10, 20 or 30 years? Five Planning Studies are underway which will help shape the communities we want. Join the conversation:

Riverside Heritage Conservation District

The streetscape on Queen St. East highlights our ward’s rich heritage, and a conservation district will protect the character and built form of the neighbourhood.

The City of Toronto will take part in National Forest Week with a guided hike organized by Parks, Forestry and Recreation staff to explore the recently built trails through Crothers Woods on Sunday, September 22 from 1 to 3 p.m.

National Forest Week, September 22 to 28, was established by the Canadian Forestry Association to help Canadians learn more about their forest heritage and to support a greater recognition of this valuable resource. This year's theme, "The Greenest Work Force," is meant to highlight the work of forest professionals and practitioners.

Beginning Saturday, October 5 from sunset at 6:51 p.m. until sunrise on Sunday, October 6, Scotiabank Nuit Blanche will transform the City of Toronto into an all-night celebration of contemporary art, featuring 112 art projects created by more than 500 local, national and international artists.

This eighth consecutive year of the event furthers its position as one of North America's premier cultural events, as it is expected to attract more than one million local enthusiasts and out-of-town visitors. Last year's event attracted more than 170,000 out-of-town visitors and generated $38 million for Toronto's economy and a $4.2 million throughout Ontario.

The five finalists for the 2013 Toronto Book Awards will read at the Word On the Street Book & Magazine Festival on Sunday, September 22. This free event will be held at Queens Park North from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Again this year, authors from Diaspora Dialogues join the reading program. Diaspora Dialogues supports writing that reflects Toronto's diverse artistic and literary culture.

The City of Toronto is hosting a town hall meeting tomorrow as part of its public consultation on a request to permit jet airplanes at the Billy Bishop Toronto City Centre Airport. The meeting will provide an opportunity for attendees to talk with City staff and technical consultants, and to share ideas.

The meeting tomorrow evening - Thursday, September 19 - will be held at the Direct Energy Centre (Salon 105), Exhibition Place, 100 Princes' Blvd. The town hall will open with a drop-in period from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by presentations and discussion from 7 to 9 p.m.

The Toronto Port Authority recently announced its plans to permanently close one of the lanes on the Cherry St. bridge when it reopens (learn more here). This bridge is one of few access points to the Port Lands. Reducing traffic to one lane will decrease access to our shared waterfront. I am very concerned about this plan, and worked with MP Craig Scott  to submit a joint letter for the TPA's Annual General Meeting on Wednesday September 4.

The City of Toronto is conducting a public consultation process on a request to permit jet airplanes at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. The focus of the consultation is to assess how changes to the airport would impact the city, including the ongoing revitalization of the waterfront and nearby communities on the waters edge.
