TORONTO, ONTARIO – August 13, 2018 – CreateTO, the City of Toronto’s new real estate agency, today announced that Studio City Rentals, a film studio company with extensive experience in Toronto’s film sector and a long-time tenant within the Toronto Port Lands, has been selected as the new operator of the former Showline Studios complex through a competitive Request for Proposals (RFP) process.

I am very happy to announce the opening of the fantastic new and accessible Morse Street Playground on Saturday, August 18th, 2018.

The wading pool and splash pad are sporting tons of new fun features. All of the state of the art play equipment is looking forward to welcoming children and families back into the park.

A big "Thank You" to everyone who contributed your time, feedback and firsthand experience in the playground. Parks staff have done a wonderful job of incorporating many of your ideas and they have worked very hard in order to open it up earlier than anticipated.

CreateTO and City Planning will be hosting two pop-up consultations to raise awareness, share information, answer questions, and collect feedback related to the Danforth Garage Master Planning Study. These pop-up consultations have been scheduled in response to community feedback requesting more opportunities to provide feedback with the broader community.

The provincial Ford Government is planning to reduce Toronto wards from 47 to 25, cutting the number of City Councillors in half.

The ward boundaries for the current City election (we moved from 44 to 47) were discussed for two years, approved by City Council, and were upheld in an Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) challenge and also by the Superior Court.

City councillors and an MPP in east-end Toronto have teamed up to try and stop anti-abortion groups from displaying graphic posters in public spaces and distributing graphic flyers in mailboxes.

Beaches-East York Councillor Janet Davis says imposing images that often depict aborted fetuses to unsuspecting pedestrians is verging on “hate and harassment” and it needs to stop.
