Toronto City Council approves extension of COVID-19 bylaws until September
To help protect public health and reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, today Toronto City Council approved a recommendation from Toronto Medical Officer of Health Dr. Eileen de Villa to extend the City of Toronto’s temporary COVID-19 bylaws until the end of Council’s September 30 and October 1 meeting. The bylaws were originally set to expire today.
City of Toronto outdoor pools will begin to open this weekend
Today, Mayor John Tory announced that 10 City of Toronto outdoor pools will open early on Saturday, June 12, as the City moves into Step One of the Province of Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen. An online reservation system will allow Toronto residents to reserve 45-minute swim sessions in advance. Reservations can be made beginning 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 10.

City of Toronto launches new ParkFitTO outdoor fitness programming
Mayor John Tory announced today the launch of ParkFitTO, a new pilot initiative offering residents outdoor fitness programming. With provincial restrictions still in place, the City of Toronto’s recreation centres will deliver fitness programs during the summer season at outdoor locations.
Registration for CampTO programs begins tomorrow
Today, Mayor John Tory announced that registration will open for Summer CampTO starting tomorrow, Tuesday, June 8 at 8 a.m. Summer CampTO programming will be offered across Toronto from Monday, July 5 to Friday, August 27, following the Province of Ontario’s announcement that summer day camps can operate during Step 1 of reopening.
