City council has voted to reduce property taxes by 50 per cent for some culture hubs and creative spaces.

With these spaces facing significant increases in property assessments in recent years, much like businesses on Yonge St, Councillor Joe Cressy (Trinity-Spadina) led the effort to establish a new tax subclass to make operating in Toronto more affordable.

Beginning on February 18, 2018 the TTC is changing vehicle types on the 505 Dundas and 506 Carlton routes from streetcars to buses to maintain service on these routes during the ongoing streetcar shortage. To accommodate buses running on these routes, the TTC is making temporary stop adjustments. These changes will be in effect until at least late 2018.

Inclusionary zoning would allow municipalities to force developers to create affordable housing units. However, many city councillors and housing advocates say if the province keeps its draft legislation as is it will miss an opportunity.

The motion asks council to approve a review of the potential creation of at least 1,000 new shelter beds, as well as examine existing shelter and winter respite services, including how those services are funded by the city.

In the midst of a housing and homelessness crisis, Toronto is moving toward a thorough review of the city’s overburdened emergency shelter system.

City Planning is holding another community consultation meeting on First Gulf's application and Master Plan for the East Harbour development in the Unilever Precinct. This Master Plan covers an area of 60 acres - 38 acres which are owned by First Gulf and 20 acres owned by the City of Toronto.

The focus of this meeting will be Public Realm, Design and Sustainability.
