Thank you for your strong support to try and keep Jimmie Simpson as a Priority Community Centre with free recreation for everyone. Over 500 Jimmie Simpson Centre users signed the petition – the most signatures of any priority centre. The petition was submitted to the special budget meeting of City Council.

The following motion to Council lost by only 2 votes:

The Toronto Transit Commission has put out a new communication regarding the Ashbridges Bay LRV site.

"On February 2, 2011, the Commission authorized award of the contract for site preparation,  which includes the removal  of 385, 000 cubic metres of soil  from the site. This work will begin in April and take approximately twelve months. Additional details on the project are available on the project website at http://www.toronto.ca/involved/projects/lrv/.

The warm weather is fast-approaching and snow banks are melting to reveal a winter’s worth of debris and litter. This is our opportunity to get involved and help keep Toronto clean.

The City’s annual spring clean-up events are a great way to get together with friends, neighbours and co-workers to reduce everyday litter. We have a shared responsibility to keep our communities green. What better way to turn your ideas into action than to get involved and reduce litter.

Looking for something to do during March Break?  Enjoy the week of March 14 by getting out, being active and having fun. The City of Toronto can help with a wide range of leisure activities and camps for children and families. Schedules for Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation programs, including indoor skating, swimming and skiing activities are available at .

With the heavy rain forecast for Toronto this weekend, the City urges homeowners to take immediate steps to help reduce their risk of basement flooding.

Toronto’s sewer system is designed to handle most storms. However, as a result of increasingly frequent and severe storms, the sewer system can become overloaded, flooding streets and creating ponds in low-lying areas.

Councillors Shelly Carroll and Paula Fletcher join Cirque du Soleil Founder Guy Laliberté at a Toronto Board of Trade event.  In September 2009, Laliberté became the first Canadian space tourist. His spaceflight was dedicated to raising awareness on water issues facing humankind on planet Earth.  The Foundation makes use of the circus arts, folklore, popular theatre, music, dance and the visual arts to promote education, community involvement and public awareness of water issues.
