Construction on Queen Street East

From May 2011 to November 2011, there will be construction on Queen Street East from Greenwood Avenue to Coxwell Avenue, and along Connaught.

There will be significant improvements as a result of this work, including replacement of the existing sidewalks, watermain and sewer replacement, replacement of road surfaces, and new streetcar tracks in this area.

During this period of time, City staff will make efforts to minimize noise during construction.  Construction will mainly be conducted during the regular work hours of 7a.m. to 7p.m., but weekend and overnight work will occur as required in order to install streetcar track during offline hours, and to ensure this work is completed as soon as possible.  There traffic access impacts to local streets north of Queen Street East, transit service, street parking, deliveries, and waste collection.

Details of construction activities will be distributed a week prior to the construction start date.  Councillor Fletcher's website will be updated with these details.

Construction and Work Hours
Efforts will be made to minimize noise during construction between the regular work hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. However, weekend and overnight work will take place as required in order to install streetcar track during offline hours and to facilitate an earlier completion date.

Details of construction activities will be distributed a week prior to the construction start date.

Traffic Access

Transit Service
During the construction, changes will be made to streetcar service on Queen Street East, which will require a bus replacement service along a portion of Queen Street East. Details will be provided in a future notice to the community, and will be posted at transit stops along the route in advance of the service changes

Street Parking
On-street parking on Queen Street East during the construction period will be restricted during periods of construction. No parking will be permitted in the active work zones.
