On Tuesday May 29th, Ralph Thornton Centre is holding a community discussion on “What Will Keep Our Community Safe” the next in RTC's  Our Community Matters series

Last fall City Council decided unanimously to have Waterfront Toronto lead a process to determine if the development of the entire Port Lands could be accelerated. The final round of public consultation is beginning now and I am encouraging your continued participation.

Great turn out at the "pool party" I hosted at City Hall to celebrate Council's ratification of the agreement between the TDSB and the City of Toronto that will keep the 33 in-school pools open.

I was pleased to be joined by Chair of the Toronto Lands Corporation David Crombie, Director of Parks, Forestry and Recreation Richard Ubbens, Manager of Aquatics Anne Jackson, Chair of the Toronto Sports Council Karen Pitre, members the Aquatics working group, and young swimmers from Frankland Pool.

The Withrow Park Farmers' Market returns to the Riverdale community on May 19 and will run every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. until October 27, rain or shine! This year, as in the past, I have arranged a delivery of free City compost: bring buckets, spades, and haul it away!

Join Councillor Paula Fletcher and MPP Peter Tabuns for a discussion of air quality issues in Ward 30 on Wednesday June 13 at 7pm at the South Riverdale Community Health Centre.

Speakers include Health Promoter Paul Young from the SRCHC, and representatives from the Ministry of the Environment, Toronto Public Health and Toronto Water.

Air quality is an important issue for residents of Leslieville and South Riverdale, and across the ward, and I hope you are able to attend.
