engaged community and we are grateful for your input, your dedication and for
some of you – your patience!
Consideration has been given to the feedback we have received and attached is
the revised drawing of the Off-Leash Area. We are confident that the key
issues identified by the community have been captured. Below are some of the
changes that have been included:
-
The naturalized area to be included as part of the Dogs Off Leash Area
-
The fence proposed for the western side is relocated further east away from
Logan Avenue.
-
Additional gates have been included to allow access from all directions
-
Invasive trees and plant material, including Burdock, has been removed from
naturalized area
Construction is tentatively scheduled to commence the week of August 29, 2011.
Signage will be posted at Withrow Park regarding alternative off-leash
locations while Withrow is under renovations.
Parks staff will be working with Councillor Fletcher’s office and members of
the Withrow Dog Owners Association to organize an official re-opening of the
Dogs Off-Leash area in the fall of 2011. Further information regarding the
event will be forthcoming.
I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank everyone for their
continued interest in Withrow Park and for their input and suggestions. It is
our hope that with these changes all members of the community will enjoy their
park to the fullest.
