It's a game for all ages but is especially popular among seniors because it affords a great opportunity for exercise as well as the health benefits derived from remaining active. The number of facilities currently available do not come close to serving the demand and the number of players.
That's why I moved the following two motions over the last several months calling for city staff to report on how we can meet the growing demand for this sport:
- IE29.18: Pickleball Expansion: adopted without amendment at the Infrastructure and Environment Committee on April 26, 2022
- MM45.8 - Any time is a good time for pickleball: meeting growing demand for healthy recreational activities - adopted without amendment at the June 15th, 2022 City Council
