Ontario Line construction has been disruptive for our community, especially for families and staff at Pape Avenue Junior Public School and Pape Children’s House.
To ensure that children have a safe, stable place to learn and grow, the school board has temporarily relocated all students to the Jones Adult Learning Centre for the next two years.
You'll notice some changes for pick-up and drop-off areas for buses and parents.
The city has approved temporary traffic and parking changes to accommodate safe student transportation. These came into effect in September 2025 ahead of the new school year.
See below for details.
The following changes are now in effect for the duration of the school relocation:
Carlaw Avenue:
- Temporary school bus loading zone on east side of the Carlaw, north of Badgerow, weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Strathcona Avenue:
- Temporary pick up and drop off zone on the north side of Strathcona, between Jones & Blake, weekdays from:
- 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.
- 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Jones Avenue:
- Temporary school bus loading zone on the west side of Jones, north of Strathcona, weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The city has also deployed a Traffic Agent at Gerrard and Carlaw and a Crossing Guard at Strathcona and Blake. This is to enhance safety in response to increased Ontario Line construction in the area.
There are additional changes underway outside of Jones School, including the addition of an outdoor play space and equipment, fencing and adjustments to the parking lot.
Work is also underway at Earl Grey to update the track and outdoor areas in anticipation of additional students sharing parts of the space.
We'll continue monitoring the situation and look forward to hearing any feedback you may have.
