Toronto kicks off holiday season with Cavalcade of Lights on Saturday

The Cavalcade of Lights event on Saturday, November 17 will feature the illumination of Torontos official Christmas tree, musical performances, a spectacular fireworks show and a dance party. It all takes place at Nathan Phillips Square, 100 Queen St. W.

Saturday night schedule 7 p.m.- Welcoming remarks and a holiday musical medley led by Justin Abedin accompanied by Toya Alexis, Chad Doucette, Kathryn Rose and Kibwe Thomas

7:15 p.m. - First lighting of the Cavalcade of Lights display and Toronto's official Christmas Tree, sponsored by Great Gulf

7:20 p.m. - Musical performances by Alyssa Reid, Sean Jones and Suzie McNeil

8 p.m.- Spectacular fireworks display by Circus Orange

8:15 p.m. - The Sno-Ball, sponsored by Timothys World Coffee, will feature a concert by recording artists Dragonette, a flame and pyrotechnic performance by Circus Orange and an open-air dance party with JJ Rock. Attendees will also be able to visit the 100th Grey Cup Festival tent, official partner of the event, and have photographs taken with the Grey Cup.

The outdoor skating rink at Nathan Phillips Square will be open as of December 1, weather permitting. There will be no skating during Cavalcade of Lights November 17. Schedule information about City of Toronto outdoor rinks is available at http://www.toronto.ca/parks/prd/skating.
