PortsToronto is undertaking an environmental assessment of the proposed introduction of jet aircraft and extension of the main runway at the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (BBTCA).

Based on a review of background information and participant feedback to date, PortsToronto has developed a preliminary list of the potential effects of the proposal and the proposed methods for assessing impacts.

The City of Toronto's Budget Committee today began the budget process to review the 2015 staff recommended tax supported and rate supported budgets. The budgets deliver significant service improvements in key priority areas including transit, poverty reduction and public safety.

"Toronto's 2015 budget is focused on getting Toronto moving, putting families first and keeping taxes low," said Mayor John Tory. "This budget is about investing in better transit, better housing, more jobs and an end to the gridlock that is choking our streets – all while maintaining property taxes below the rate of inflation."

The City of Toronto offers fun and affordable recreation programs for all ages, skill levels and interests. On Saturday, December 6 starting at 7 a.m., Toronto residents across the city will be able to register for winter skating and swimming lessons as well as March Break camps, including arts, sports, cooking and more.

Registration for winter general programs and ski and snowboard lessons opened for registration earlier and will continue throughout the winter.

Toronto's official Christmas tree will be illuminated at Nathan Phillips Square at the 48th annual Cavalcade of Lights presented by Great Gulf on Saturday, November 29 at 7 p.m.

The annual extravaganza, which will officially kick off the holiday season celebrations in Toronto, will include the first lighting of the iconic 65-foot (20-metre) white spruce tree, live musical performances by Juno Award winners and a spectacular fireworks show followed by a concert and DJ skating party. It all takes place at Nathan Phillips Square, 100 Queen St. W.
