City of Toronto hosting public consultations on a proposed local appeal body for Committee of Adjustment decisions

The City of Toronto is holding public consultations to speak with Torontonians about the establishment and implementation of a local appeal body that would hear appeals of Committee of Adjustment decisions.

The Province of Ontario granted the City of Toronto the power to establish a local appeal body to hear appeals of Committee of Adjustment decisions on both minor variances and consent applications.

The Planning and Growth Management Committee recently asked the Chief Planner to initiate a public consultation process on the implementation of a local appeal body. A staff report on the results of the public consultation, including recommendations on implementation, is expected to be considered by the spring.

Each meeting will begin at 6:45 p.m. A staff presentation will take place at 7 p.m. followed by a question-and-answer period and a facilitated discussion.
