Many of you have contacted me about the application from Choice Properties for the development of 682, 686, 688, 720, 740 and 742 Broadview Avenue. A Preliminary Report on the application will be on the November 24 meeting of the Toronto and East York Community Council (TEYCC).

No decision will be made on the application at this meeting. The report will introduce the application, the assessment process and recommend a community consultation be scheduled with the local Councillor.

I thought it would be helpful to host a virtual Information Session for the community in advance of the TEYCC meeting. Please register at the link above.

The site is currently occupied by the Loblaw's store (690-720 Broadview), two 3-storey mixed-use buildings (742 and 740 Broadview) and three 3-storey residential buildings listed on the City of Toronto’s Heritage Registry (688, 686 and 682 Broadview). The site also occupies a significant portion of ravine lands.

The new proposal is for a 35 storey tower situated on top of a 7 storey base building. The proposal indicates the existing leases located within the heritage buildings will be retained, while the rear yards will be used for the development of the 7-storey building and slope rehabilitation.503 residential dwelling units are proposed along with a grocery store.  150 residential parking spaces, 50 visitor parking spaces and 2 retail spaces for a total of 220 spaces are also proposed.

I have asked a representative of the applicant to make a brief presentation so everyone can hear from them firsthand. Following the presentation there will be ample opportunity for you to ask questions of City Planning staff and to provide feedback.

The Preliminary Report will become public no later than November 17 and I will add the link to this webpage.
