TTC Streetcar Overhead Power-Line Work

Broadview and Queen Intersection Beginning Week of November 11, 2013 - 8 Weeks Night Work

Beginning the week of November 11, 2013 and continuing for approximately 8 weeks, weather permitting, Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) electrical crews will be upgrading the streetcar overhead power line infrastructure that spans the intersection of Broadview and Queen.

The upgrade is necessary to accommodate the next generation of streetcars that will join the TTC’s fleet of service vehicles. Over the past year, electrical crews have been upgrading the overhead wire system along streetcar routes in the TTC network.

Night Work Hours

To keep this busy intersection open during the day and to complete this complex and extensive overhead work in a safe manner, work will take place between the hours of 1:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., Monday through Friday.

Equipment

On average, two to three TTC overhead trucks with hydraulic equipment will be used together to carry out this work. While efforts will be made by the crew to keep noise to a minimum, beeping sound from back-up alarms on the TTC trucks will be audible. Illumination from equipment lights may also be noticeable.

TTC Service and Traffic Movement

Scheduled streetcar service and night bus operations, as well as general traffic will be maintained through the intersection with lane restrictions during the work.

We regret any inconvenience that may be caused as a result of this night work.
