Toronto and East York Community Council approves the proposed affordable housing development at 1117 Danforth.
This week at Toronto and East York Community Council, we adopted recommendations to approve the proposed affordable housing development at 1117 Danforth.
This is great news! We're now one step closer to getting shovels in the ground to protect and create new affordable housing on the Danforth.

Thank you to everyone, including current 1117 Danforth tenants, who came to City Hall this week to support the proposal.
I'm proud to have supported this important and innovative development by bringing together the project partners using the model piloted here in Ward 14 to create new affordable housing and revitalize the existing units.
I also moved a City Council motion last October to provide money for their pre-development work.
The developer is partnering with non-profit housing provider Houselink & Mainstay to renovate and maintain the 27 ageing supportive housing units at 1117 Danforth, while creating create 108 new affordable, rent controlled units and 272 additional rental units.
The proposal now goes to City Council later this month for final approval.
