Traffic and Parking Restrictions
Lane, parking and turning restrictions will be put into place to create a safe work zone for the crew.
Traffic on Broadview Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction through work zone for the duration of the project.
Work Timeline and Night Work
Mon. Oct. 21: Beginning at 8:30 a.m. a TTC track crew will occupy the curb lane and weld rail into longer strings in preparation for the replacement.
Oct. 21 to 25: Concrete saw-cutting and excavation of 60 metres of track area will be conducted in order to expose the rail that will be replaced. The excavation will be conducted by the day and afternoon crews from 7 a.m. to approx. 10 p.m. Streetcar service and traffic will be maintained through the work zone during this phase of the work.
Sat. Oct 26: 504 KING and 505 DUNDAS streetcars will be diverted to allow the track crew to replace the rail in the excavated area with new rail. This portion of the work will also involve overnight activity. While efforts will be made to keep noise levels to a minimum, noise will be apparent when certain equipment is in full operation.
Sun. Oct 27: Placement of concrete. The work zone will be removed on Monday, October 28 prior to the start of 504 KING and 505 DUNDAS streetcar morning services.
Transit Service Changes - October 26 Weekend
504 KING and 505 DUNDAS Streetcars will be diverted on October 26 and 27 to accommodate the weekend portion of this work. Transit information showing the streetcar diversions will be posted on transit stops prior to the October 26 weekend.
A Shuttle bus service will operate in place of streetcars between Broadview Station and the King/Parliament, and Dundas/Parliament areas.
