Statutory public meeting of draft city-wide zoning bylaw

Zoning affects every property in the city. The zoning bylaw regulates the use of land and buildings as well as their height, size, and location. With 43 different zoning bylaws inherited from the six pre-amalgamation municipalities, the City of Toronto is now in the final stages of a multi-year harmonization process.

A statutory open house will be held February 6, where everyone is welcome to attend to provide final comments on the draft bylaw and hear a presentation by staff.

The latest draft of the city-wide zoning bylaw, dated November 8, 2012, goes before the Planning and Growth Management Committee at a special statutory public meeting on February 13. If the Committee recommends approval, a final draft of the bylaw will proceed to City Council for enactment. The latest draft of the zoning bylaw is available on the Clerk's website (item PG19.12).

The draft city-wide zoning bylaw is also available on interactive maps. You can quickly find the zoning of a property by searching by address on these maps. Click here to find links to the interactive map and for more information on the progress of the zoning bylaw.
