Prince Edward Viaduct Rehabilitation

The City of Toronto is rehabilitating the Prince Edward Viaduct ( Bloor Street Bridge). The purpose of the work is to repair deteriorated substructure components and improve the bridge deck drainage of the Prince Edward Viaduct.

This work will take place on and below the Viaduct. The work include on the portion of the Viaduct above the Bayview Avenue and the Don Valley Parkway.

Your co-operation and patience during the construction period is crucial and will be appreciated.

Project Details

The project will involve repairs of concrete on piers, abutments, wingwalls, and soffits; removal of Bell ductwork and manholes, repairs of structural steel and cross-braces within the TTC Right of way.

Traffic Disruptions

Traffic staging in the construction zone will be implemented using temporary concrete barriers. Daily traffic restrictions will be as follows:
  • The eastbound bicycle lane on Bloor Street East will be closed to traffic at up to five (5) locations for the patching of Bell manholes.
  • Night time closures of the Don Valley Parkway and Bayview Avenue will occur for the duration of the construction period as and when required. Closure of the Don Valley Parkway and Bayview Avenue will not occur simultaneously.
  • The east shoulder of the northbound Don Valley Parkway will be closed during the entire duration of the construction period.
