Pets for Adoption at Toronto Animal Services


June is Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat Month, and to help you find your spring fling, from June 17 - 30, the adoption fee for cats will be reduced to $25.00 plus a licence (if applicable).

All cats/kittens up for adoption are vet-checked, spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and come with a free bag of food. Some of the eligible cats will be posting their personal ad complete with photo at

There are currently many animals available for adoption at Toronto Animal Services, including dozens of  cats and dogs.  If you are looking for a pet please consider adopting one of these sweet animals and giving them a forever home.

Pet Adoption

Dogs and cats are available for adoption. It's easy to see the current animals available. If you would like to know more information about an animal, click on its picture.

Adoptions must be done at one of our Animal Centres. The animal information is updated every 30 minutes during hours of operation. We cannot guarantee that all animals listed will be available when you visit.

How to adopt

The adoption fees include a veterinary health check, vaccinations, sterilization, a microchip and rabies vaccination. Residents of Toronto will also be required to purchase a dog or cat licence; at the time of adoption. Those adopters residing outside the City of Toronto must purchase a licence in the their own community. Once you have found an animal you would like to adopt, you will be required to complete an Adoption Questionnaire. If the pet is a good match, you will be able to take your new cat or dog home that same day. The fees for adopting an animal are as follows:

  • Adult cats or kittens are $84.75 including all taxes and $15.00 annual licence fee. *discount available to senior citizens.
  • Adult dogs or puppies are $141.25 including all taxes, $25.00 annual licence fee and a one time sterilization recovery fee ($67.80 for neutered male dogs and $101.70 for spayed female dogs). *discount available to senior citizens
