New Pickleball-Specific Courts Coming to Toronto-Danforth

The City of Toronto's first purpose-built pickleball facility will have 11 courts and several other exciting features.

Great news pickleball players: Toronto-Danforth will be home to the City of Toronto’s first purpose-built pickleball facility!

The City of Toronto will build 11 dedicated pickleball courts this summer in city green space at Emdaabiimok Avenue north of Lake Shore Boulevard East.

The new facility is only possible thanks to the commitment and hard work of the East Toronto Pickleball Association (ETPA), in collaboration with the city’s Parks and Recreation division.

In addition to pushing the city to include pickleball-specific options in its plan, they successfully advocated for the new facility to be tournament-sized.

It will also feature an accessible court, wheelchair-accessible walkways, shaded seating, acrylic-coated playing surfaces and a water bottle filling station.

The ETPA met with me and Parks staff at City Hall to finalize the project and deliver over 1,000 petition signatures in support of the new courts.

I’m very happy to have worked with the ETPA to create more local and affordable opportunities to play this fun, growing sport.
