CampTO, first offered in the summer of 2020, is a creative camp experience that provides outdoor and physical activities, active and quiet games, arts and crafts and nature-based activities. CampTO is designed for maximum fun and safety for campers six to 12 years of age.
The program meets guidelines designed in consultation with Toronto Public Health and in alignment with provincial health guidelines for day camps. These guidelines include physical distancing, daily health screening, wearing masks, cohorting, and enhanced facility cleaning. Each camp group will stay together for the entire week and will not interact with other camper groups. Caregivers will receive a phone call prior to camp start to review procedures and do a pre-camp health check.
CampTO campers and staff are expected to wear cloth face coverings or masks indoors and outdoors. Campers will be required to bring two to three clean face coverings or masks to camp each day. Approximately 1,600 in-person camp spaces are available at more than 70 locations across the City.
In addition to in-person CampTO programs, there's a new way to play over the spring break with CampTO Virtual. These 45 minute-long live and interactive workshops will be available to campers age four to 12, every day over the course of spring break. The theme is a coast-to-coast trip across Canada, and workshops will include virtual visits to five Canadian cities. Facilitated by camp staff, participants will explore the diverse food, culture and landmarks of Canada through interactive games and creative programming. There are 1,500 spaces available for virtual camp workshops.
Registration for spring break CampTO will begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23. Programs will be available for viewing beginning March 17 at https://www.toronto.ca/explore-enjoy/recreation/campto/.
The quickest and easiest way to register is online at https://efun.toronto.ca/TorontoFun/Start/Start.asp. Phone registration will also be available. Residents can call 416-396-7378 Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends for help preparing for registration.
Although civic centres remain closed to the public to reduce the spread of COVID-19, five community centre locations will be open on March 23 and 24 for in-person registration support. Wi-Fi will be available and staff will be onsite to assist with the registration process. Residents may bring their own devices to in-person registration sites; however, staff will register those without their own devices.
