Lakeshore East Rail Corridor Expansion Program - Metrolinx Update

Metrolinx, an agency of the Province of Ontario, is working to transform the way the region moves by building a seamless, convenient and integrated transit network across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). Over the next ten years, Metrolinx is transforming the existing GO rail system to deliver a whole new rapid transit experience to your community. With more frequent train service you’ll have more options to get you where you need to go.

THE LOCAL PROJECT Starting on Sunday April 15, 2018, overnight track work began on the Lakeshore East rail corridor between the Don Valley Parkway and Gerrard Street East. Below is an updated schedule of the overnight work:

April 15 - April 19, 2018 Track work will take place between Eastern Ave. and Carlaw Ave.

April 20 - April 22, 2018 Track work will take place between the Don River and Dundas St. E This work requires the use of excavators, hydraulic and hand tools, equipment and trucks with audible back-up beepers. We do as much as possible to minimize the effects of the construction on our neighbours. However, this work will create some noise from trucks, moving of materials and equipment, and some ambient light from the work site.

TIMING Work will take place between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. for approximately four weeks.
