Heritage Toronto Celebrates 25 Years and Launches 2019 Tours

May 2, 2019 (Toronto, Ontario)Today, Heritage Toronto is pleased to announce the launch of our annual Tours program presented by TD Bank Group. In 2019, we celebrate 25 years of this free public program which has travelled thousands of kilometers across the city.

"This 25th season continues our tradition of sharing important stories with new audiences", says Allison Bain, Executive Director of Heritage Toronto. "This year, we are working with young people in our Emerging Historians program to bring under-represented voices and perspectives to the stories that define our city".

Among the tours shaped by this next generation of heritage advocates is Lady Action: Toronto's Trailblazing Women, which surfaces little-known stories of activists who pushed boundaries in politics, business, and other fields by challenging the status quo. Among the inspiring stories is Jeannette Corbiere Lavell's 1970s Supreme Court fight to retain her Indian status lost by her marriage to a non-Indigenous man.

Running from Thursday, May 2 until Saturday, October 5, the 25th season features 65 tours of which 24 are new offerings. Visit https://www.heritagetoronto.org/ for dates and info.
