Greenwood Park Plans and May 5 Open House

Greenwood Open House

Time:   6:30pm - 8:30pm Date:  May 5th 2011 Location:   Greenwood Park Change Rooms The Change Rooms and the Rinks at Greenwood Park will be upgraded as part of the city's "state of good repair" for city facilities. The Open House is a follow up to a community consultation in February where the initial designs were presented to:
  • Re-design and upgrade of Greenwood change room facilities
  • Relocate mechanical and storage buildings to west side of rink
  • Create an all weather open roof structure for the existing rink
  • Build a new pleasure skating trail to replace the existing pleasure skating rink
  • Relocate the storage cage at east side of rink
  • There were many good ideas and suggestions as well as concerns at the meeting that have now been incorporated into the plans. How these plans fit into the planned upgrades already underway to the children's play area and the dog park have also been looked at.

For many years you have told me you want upgrades to the changeroom facilities at Greenwood Park and better connections to the rinks in winter. Starting this year, renovations to the 40 year old buildings and structures will help transform the rink and the park. Here's what is planned: • Redesign and upgrade of change room facilities • Relocation of mechanical and storage buildings on west side of rink • An all weather open roof structure for the existing rink • A new pleasure skating trail to replace the existing pleasure skating rink • Relocation of storage cage at east side of rink Parks and Recreation have preliminary designs of all of these components. As park users your experience and perspective is of great value in creating the final design. Please email [email protected] with your comments.
