A 'Transit-Oriented Community' (TOC) is a special arrangement between Infrastructure Ontario and a private developer to allow for significant increases in density at stations along the Ontario Line.
A TOC is being planned for the future Gerrard Station on the Ontario Line at Riverdale Plaza. You can read a report here.
Since this TOC was announced, I have pressed Infrastructure Ontario and the developer ChoiceREIT to add affordable housing into their plan. I am very disappointed that no commitment to include affordable housing has been made.
At Toronto and East York Community Council I submitted the following motions which City Council will debate at our May meeting:
I know our community strongly supports more affordable housing.
