My motion to address the unfair gap between TTC and parking fines passed today.
My motion to address the big gap between parking ticket and fare evasion fines passed this week at City Council. Councillor Bravo and I worked together to address this unfair treatment of transit riders, who must pay hundreds of dollars for a fine.
The motion requests that the TTC take immediate steps to bridge the gap and reduce fines to be at a rate similar to those more in line with other City Fines related to transportation. As well, that the City Manager report directly back to Council on this matter in July's meeting.
We considered luxury home tax rates, priority signalling for LRTs and streetcars, a maximum heat bylaw along with our next five-year climate plan and the Portlands Energy Centre.
Major items included snow clearing, Ontario Line truck safety, blue bin collection, removal of provincial tenant protections, zoning changes to allow for more residential retail and more.
We considered issues such as speed cameras, expanding the Toronto Community Crisis Service to the TTC and more, as well as several of my motions.
