As directed by City Council, and as part of the agreed-to Terms of Reference with the Province of Ontario, the public consultation includes:
- a public information campaign
- third-party research
- online survey at http://www.toronto.ca/transitreview
- public meetings led by staff and featuring a City-TTC staff presentation followed by a Q&A session (open-house-style sessions will also take place before/after the presentations, with staff available to answer questions and collect feedback/public input)
- pop-up activations in TTC subway stations to raise awareness of the website, online survey and public meeting dates and locations.
This consultation gives the public an opportunity to learn more about the transit review, the City and TTC's transit system needs and plans, and the Province's proposed plan, including Bill 107 - The Getting Ontario Moving Act.
Public input and feedback will be gathered and will help inform staff recommendations to City Council.
An expert advisory panel has also been struck, and begins its work on June 5. Panel members and their biographies are available at http://www/toronto.ca/transitreview.
