Cavalcade of Lights to illuminate Nathan Phillips Square for the holidays Saturday evening

Toronto's official Christmas tree will be illuminated at Nathan Phillips Square at the 48th annual Cavalcade of Lights presented by Great Gulf on Saturday, November 29 at 7 p.m.

The annual extravaganza, which will officially kick off the holiday season celebrations in Toronto, will include the first lighting of the iconic 65-foot (20-metre) white spruce tree, live musical performances by Juno Award winners and a spectacular fireworks show followed by a concert and DJ skating party. It all takes place at Nathan Phillips Square, 100 Queen St. W.

Event schedule for Saturday night:

7 p.m. - Opening ceremony and a holiday musical medley led by Adrian "X" Eccleston featuring Cavalcade Drumline and a cappella group Retrocity

7:15 p.m. - First lighting of Toronto's official Christmas tree and Cavalcade of Lights display

7:20 p.m. - Music and dance performances with special guests Kardinal Offishall, Kellylee Evans, Maestro Fresh Wes and Collective Elite Dancers

8:20 p.m. - Fireworks display sponsored by TekSavvy

8:30 p.m. - Concert sponsored by Great Gulf featuring Shad
