Community Meeting: Ontario Line Construction Safety

As you will have heard there was a horrific accident at Mortimer and Pape when a community member was struck while crossing the street by a Metrolinx construction truck that was not following the approved ‘haul route.’

We are all holding her in our hearts during her recovery.

This terrible incident has highlighted many safety questions with Ontario Line construction relating to:

• safe street crossing for school children and seniors
• the need for extra crossing guards
• TTC bus routing
• Metrolinx contractor compliance
• and more

What's more, Metrolinx heavy construction vehicles continue to use residential streets even after the incident at Pape and Mortimer. I issued a statement today, which you can read here.
